Meta Launches New AI Social App Pocket for User-Generated Interactive Gizmos

Pocket is currently rolling out in select regions and has appeared on Google Play, indicating an Android-first, staged rollout.
Gizmo's install base has reached about 635,000 lifetime installs across iOS and Android, with 98% of reviews positive.
Pocket gizmos can respond to touch and device tilt, play sound effects and music, and can access the device’s camera or photo library.
Pocket includes a social/discovery feed enabling users to browse gizmos created by people around the world, mirroring Gizmo’s discovery experience.
Meta has quietly launched Pocket, a new AI-powered app that lets anyone create small interactive games and experiences using simple text prompts, according to TechCrunch. The app went live on June 29, 2026, and was first spotted by analyst Alessandro Paluzzi before Meta said a word about it.
Pocket is built on technology from Gizmo, a platform Meta acquired earlier this year. It brings "vibe-coded" game creation — meaning AI builds the game from your description — to a mainstream social audience, says TechCrunch.
Users type a simple prompt and Pocket's AI generates a playable mini-game, called a gizmo, in seconds. These gizmos can respond to touch and device tilt, play sound effects and music, and even access the phone's camera or photo library, according to TechBuzz.
Pocket also includes a social discovery feed. Users can browse gizmos made by people around the world, like, and share them. Zamin reports the experience mirrors the discovery feed from the original Gizmo platform, making it easy to find popular creations fast.
Meta did not build Pocket from scratch. It acquired the team behind Gizmo, a platform developed by Atma Sciences, earlier in 2026. Meta secured a non-exclusive license to Gizmo's technology, according to TechCrunch. That deal gave Meta both the talent and the tools to ship Pocket quickly.
Gizmo already had strong traction before Meta stepped in. The platform had around 635,000 lifetime installs across iOS and Android, with 98% of user reviews rated as positive, TechCrunch reported. That base signals real demand for AI-generated, user-made interactive content.
Pocket is part of a wider strategy at Meta to weave AI into everything it builds. The company has already rolled out Meta AI across its apps and launched a feature called Vibes. Pocket extends that push into gaming and creative content, says TechBuzz.
Right now, Pocket is in a staged rollout. It has appeared on Google Play, pointing to an Android-first launch in select regions. Meta has not made any public statement about the app. TechCrunch noted the low-key debut is typical of how Meta tests new experimental products before a wider release.
Meta has stayed silent on Pocket so far. Analyst Alessandro Paluzzi was the first to flag the app publicly. Tech observers are now watching to see if Meta will expand the rollout or fold Pocket into one of its existing platforms like Instagram or Facebook.
The app's quiet launch mirrors how Meta handled earlier experimental tools. If Pocket gains traction, it could put Meta in direct competition with platforms like Roblox or Snap, which also let users create and share interactive experiences, according to TechBuzz.
