Political Donations Decline Sharply
AAP Reports 68 Percent Donation Drop Following Loss of Power in Delhi

The Aam Aadmi Party reported Rs 12.10 crore in contributions for 2025-26, a 68% decline from the previous year and its first full financial year after losing power in Delhi. Nearly 83% of the total came from Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited, which each contributed Rs 5 crore; Trident was founded by Rajinder Gupta, an AAP Rajya Sabha member at the time its cheque was issued who later joined the BJP. The filing also lists a Rs 21,100 contribution from former AAP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, made before he took a role with another party. Other regional parties also reported lower contributions: the TDP disclosed Rs 58.25 crore, down from Rs 83.03 crore, while the YSR Congress reported Rs 24.31 crore, down sharply from about Rs 140 crore.
