Canzone Powers Seattle's Offense, Then Exits Hurt
Canzone gave Seattle the lead in the second inning with a solo shot to left field off Red Sox starter Payton Tolle. Then in the sixth, he grounded out to shortstop, allowing Julio RodrÃguez to score from third to make it 3-1. But on his run to first base, Canzone grabbed his right hamstring and pulled up short NBC Sports.
The timing could not be worse for Seattle. The Mariners already were missing outfielders Randy Arozarena (hamstring, 10-day IL) and Luke Raley (back). Canzone had posted a .940 OPS and was batting .341 over his last 15 games NBC Sports. The team may need to call up a player from Triple-A Tacoma if Canzone lands on the injured list.
Weston Wilson's Debut Breaks the 1-1 Tie
Boston tied it 1-1 in the third when Nate Eaton hit a solo home run into the second deck in left field. It was Eaton's first of the season Field Level Media. Seattle got that run back in the fifth thanks to a player making his Mariners debut.
