Final Fantasy VII Revelation Unveiled as Remake Finale, Launches Spring 2027 Simultaneously Across All Platforms

Square Enix unveiled Final Fantasy VII Revelation at Summer Game Fest 2026 as the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, continuing Cloud and his party’s story after Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The first trailer spotlights Sephiroth’s looming plan and escalating threats tied to Meteor and awakening Weapons, while also emphasizing new scale through the Highwind airship and expanded world exploration. Revelation is set for release in Spring 2027, launching simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC storefronts including Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. Unlike earlier remake releases, the game is positioned for day-one access on PC rather than arriving months later. Square Enix also confirms playable Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, alongside a combat revamp that includes a new job system and deeper strategic action, aiming at a climactic finale for the remake saga.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi said the team was “very happy we were able to showcase the long-awaited Highwind flight,” adding, “We’re committed to delivering the ultimate experience in Spring 2027.”
Square Enix’s description of the finale frames Sephiroth’s threat in escalatory terms—“Sephiroth nears godhood”—and highlights that the party begins the endgame while grieving a “beloved ally.”
Square Enix positions the Spring 2027 timing as a major milestone: the simultaneous release is explicitly tied to the “commemorative 30th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy VII.”
A gameplay introduction was released alongside the announcement and is narrated by Matt Mercer—who reprises/voices Vincent Valentine—according to a report that notes the narration credits in the included footage.
