FEMA Distributes Millions in Fire Grants Across Multiple Regions Nationwide

FEMA is distributing nearly $32.5 million to fire departments and first-responder organizations across New England, including $14.7 million in Massachusetts, more than $6.1 million in Maine and nearly $1.4 million in Vermont. Awards support equipment and emergency vehicles, staffing and recruitment, fire prevention, firefighter training, and responder health and wellness; Massachusetts grants include a new North Adams fire engine, Boston’s firefighter wellness program and breathing apparatus for several communities. FEMA also announced more than $68 million for departments and first responders in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, and nearly $7.7 million for organizations in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. The awards are part of the fiscal 2025 Assistance to Firefighters, SAFER, and Fire Prevention and Safety programs, which make $648 million available nationwide, with further awards expected.
