Bondi Hero Ahmed Al Ahmed Faces Domestic Violence Charges for Alleged Assault on Father
Bondi Beach terror-attack hero Ahmed Al Ahmed, 44, has been charged with common assault (domestic violence) and stalking after allegations that he attacked his elderly father at the father’s home in March by putting him in a headlock. NSW Police also obtained an Apprehended Violence Order on the father’s behalf, requiring Ahmed to have no contact and not to assault, stalk, harass, or intimidate, and to stay 100 metres away from the home and workplace. Ahmed is scheduled to appear in court on July 29. The charges come after his widely praised actions during the December 14 Bondi attack, when he helped disarm a gunman, for which he received public honors and support for his recovery. Separately, two of Ahmed’s brothers have been charged with allegedly threatening him by phone and demanding $100,000 each of the roughly $2.6 million raised for his recovery; both brothers have pleaded not guilty.
