Seahawks Quarterback Sam Darnold Faces Unclear Return Timeline Due To Soft Tissue Injury

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a soft tissue injury during a game against the New England Patriots and will miss time with no clear return date. AP News reported the injury is believed to be short-term, but the team has not set a timeline for his comeback. Backup Drew Lock stepped in and led the Seahawks to a 13-10 victory.
Darnold got hurt when he was sacked during the matchup against New England. He limped off the field but did not play for the rest of the game. Yahoo Sports confirmed the injury is a "very unique, soft tissue" glute injury that kept him out of Monday's practice. The team did not place him on injured reserve.
With Darnold sidelined, backup Drew Lock took over in the second half. Lock managed the game well enough to secure a 13-10 win over the Patriots. This gives Seattle a chance to win without their starting quarterback while Darnold recovers. The Seahawks will need to determine if Lock can handle more starts or if Darnold returns sooner than expected.
The Seahawks have not put Darnold on injured reserve, a sign the organization expects a faster recovery. However, Seattle PI noted there is no set date for when he will be back on the field. His hip joint was not affected by the injury. Darnold did not play at all last season, so the team will be cautious about rushing his return.
