Zimbabwe and DR Congo meet in a pivotal AFCON qualifier for Group E supremacy.

Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of the Congo meet at Harare’s National Sports Stadium in a pivotal second-matchday clash in Group E of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Both teams won their openers and have three points, with DR Congo beating Equatorial Guinea 2-0 and Zimbabwe edging Sierra Leone 3-2. A win would give either side sole possession of first place and a second straight victory. Their last three meetings have been evenly split, with one win apiece and one draw.
Zimbabwe came from 2-0 down to beat Sierra Leone 3-2, scoring the winner in the 88th minute; the result extended their recent record to four wins in their last five games across all competitions.
The teams’ most recent meeting was a 4-0 DR Congo victory at the 2021 AFCON.
Zimbabwe have appeared in six AFCON tournaments, including the most recent edition, but have never advanced beyond the group stage.
The match is scheduled to be broadcast on SuperSport, SABC Sport, Canal+ Sport and beIN SPORTS, with Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar appointed to officiate.
