Integration Power Services Introduces IPS ReCert Program for UL 891 Standard Switchboard Recertification
Integration Power Services (IPS) has launched IPS ReCert™, a new program that gives used switchboards a fully tested second life — certified to the same UL 891 standard applied to brand-new equipment, according to Northern News.
The program covers dead-front switchboards ranging from 225A to 6,000A at 600 volts and below. Each unit goes through the complete UL 891 routine test sequence and comes with a two-year warranty, The Province reported.
What UL 891 Recertification Actually Means for Buyers
UL 891 is the safety standard that governs dead-front switchboards — the large panels that distribute electrical power in buildings and facilities. Getting certified to UL 891 is not a lower bar for used gear. IPS ReCert™ units must pass the exact same test sequence as new switchboards, according to The Sudbury Star.
That full test sequence is called the UL 891 routine test. It checks that each recertified unit is safe, code-compliant, and performs like new equipment. The two-year warranty backs that promise, Sault Star reported.
A Cost-Effective Alternative to Buying New Electrical Gear
New switchboards are expensive and can have long lead times. IPS ReCert™ gives buyers a code-compliant option that costs less than new gear. That frees up capital budget for other priorities, according to The Observer.
IPS already sells new and reconditioned UL 891 switchboards. The ReCert™ program expands that lineup by adding a fully recertified tier. It gives electrical distribution equipment what the company calls a "code-compliant second life," Cold Lake Sun reported.
Burlington Service Center Is the Starting Point for ReCerts
IPS ReCert™ units are currently available through IPS's Burlington service center. That is where the recertification work is done, according to Fort Saskatchewan Record.
IPS describes itself as North America's leading provider of electrical, mechanical, and power management solutions. The Burlington hub gives the company a dedicated base to process, test, and certify returned switchboards before they go back into service, Whitecourt Star reported.
IPS Expands Its Portfolio With a Sustainability Play
Recertifying used switchboards instead of scrapping them keeps large metal-and-copper assemblies out of the waste stream. The ReCert™ program turns end-of-life equipment into tested, warranted product, according to Fairview Post.
The launch adds a third tier to IPS's switchboard offerings: new, reconditioned, and now fully recertified. That range lets buyers match their budget and project needs without giving up safety or compliance, Pincher Creek Echo reported.
