Taseko Mines Limited Shareholders Approve Name Change to Trekor Metals, Effective June 25, 2026

Taseko Mines Limited will become Trekor Metals Limited on June 25, 2026, after shareholders voted to approve the name change at the company's Annual General Meeting in Vancouver. Financial Post reported that 216,723,190 common shares were voted at the meeting — representing 59.3% of all outstanding shares.
The new name takes legal effect Wednesday. Trading under the Trekor Metals name begins on the Toronto Stock Exchange and NYSE American on June 29, followed by the London Stock Exchange on June 30. Ticker symbols — TSX: TKO, NYSE American: TGB, and LSE: TKO — remain unchanged.
The rebrand reflects a major shift in what Taseko actually does. The company built its identity around the Gibraltar Mine in British Columbia — Canada's second-largest open-pit copper mine. But in February 2026, it started producing copper at Florence Copper in Arizona, its first greenfield operation in the United States. CEO Stuart McDonald said the name Trekor "honours our history, while capturing our ambition and drive to lead in North America's copper sector."
The company has invested over $850 million to expand across North America, according to corporate statements. Florence Copper is projected to produce 85 million pounds of copper per year over 22 years, at an operating cost of just US$1.11 per pound. Officials say the project uses 75% less carbon and 78% less water than conventional mines.
All seven board directors were re-elected at the meeting. Six of them won approval from more than 93% of voters. Rita Maguire received the highest support at 99.2%. Russell Hallbauer followed at 98.3%. Crystal Smith earned 98.8% approval.
The outlier was long-serving director Robert Dickinson, who received just 73.8% support — the lowest of any nominee. Analysts say the lower vote may signal that some shareholders want fresh faces on the board, even as they broadly support the company's new direction.
The name change comes with a new CUSIP number — 89472Y107 — and a new ISIN code (CA89472Y1079), effective June 30. Shareholders who hold Taseko shares will automatically hold Trekor Metals shares. No action is required. Importantly, regulatory filings confirm there is no change to the legal rights attached to common shares.
The company paid roughly $45,000 to the Laurel Hill Advisory Group to manage shareholder proxy communications for the meeting. Taseko reported full-year 2025 revenues of $673 million and adjusted EBITDA of $230 million, giving Trekor Metals a solid financial base as it enters its new chapter.
The Trekor Metals brand will soon face its biggest challenge yet. The company is developing the Yellowhead Copper Project in British Columbia, recently added to the provincial government's priority list. The project carries an estimated $2 billion price tag. It would expand Trekor's North American footprint well beyond Gibraltar and Florence.
Some market observers have raised questions about whether a rebrand could distract management from the "operational discipline" needed to pull off a project that large. Still, Trekor remains the largest private-sector employer in BC's Cariboo region. The stakes — for shareholders and local communities alike — are significant.
