Rebox Corp, North America's Largest Used Box Supplier, Appoints Kyle Otting CEO

Rebox Corp has named Kyle Otting as its new CEO, effective July 8, 2026, according to Financial Post and National Post. Otting takes over from Mark Young, who co-founded the company in 1990 and built it into North America's largest buyer and seller of once-used corrugated boxes.
The leadership change comes as demand grows for Rebox's core model: buying boxes that businesses no longer need, then reselling them at a lower cost than new packaging. Rebox pioneered this once-used box market, and Otting is expected to scale it further across North America, Ottawa Sun reported.
Otting is not new to this industry. He has more than 20 years of experience building and scaling reusable packaging and logistics businesses, according to Edmonton Sun. That includes leading two separate reusable packaging companies — a track record that made him a strong fit for Rebox's next growth phase.
Otting will lead Rebox's overall strategic direction. He will also work to expand its commercial and operational infrastructure across North America, Shoreline Beacon reported. The company said the appointment comes at a time when more businesses are looking for cost-effective and sustainable packaging options.
Rebox's business model is straightforward. It buys corrugated boxes directly from companies that have already used them once and no longer need them. Those sellers get money back instead of paying recycling costs. Rebox then resells the boxes to other businesses at a price lower than buying new, Brantford Expositor reported.
The model keeps boxes in use longer before they are recycled or thrown away. That appeals to businesses trying to cut packaging costs and reduce waste. Rebox says it pioneered this once-used box market and remains the largest player in North America, according to Chatham Daily News.
Young co-founded Rebox in 1990 and has led the company for 36 years. His departure marks the end of an era for the business he helped build from the ground up. Montreal Gazette reported that Otting's appointment is effective July 8, 2026, signaling a planned and structured handover.
The timing suggests the board is preparing Rebox for a new stage of growth. With a seasoned executive now in charge, the company appears ready to push further into markets where businesses are actively seeking cheaper, greener alternatives to buying new corrugated boxes, Fort McMurray Today noted.
Demand for the once-used box model is rising, according to Paris Star. Businesses facing higher supply chain costs are looking for ways to cut spending on packaging. Once-used boxes can cost significantly less than new ones, making Rebox's offer increasingly attractive to cost-conscious buyers.
Rebox's expansion plans under Otting will focus on scaling both its buying and selling operations across the continent. Woodstock Sentinel Review reported that the company sees real opportunity as more businesses prioritize sustainability alongside savings — two goals that Rebox's model directly addresses.
