Miata Drilling Uncovers Strong High-Grade Gold System at Jons Trend, Suriname

Miata Metals has reported one of its best drilling results yet at Sela Creek, Suriname. Hole 26DDH-JT-019 cut through 30.0 meters of rock grading 4.06 grams of gold per tonne, according to Ontario Farmer. Inside that interval, a 14.0-meter stretch graded an even richer 8.20 g/t Au — more than double the overall average.
The result is a down-dip step-out, meaning it extends the known gold zone deeper into the ground, not just sideways. CEO Dr. Jacob Verbaas said the company's "ability to project and target high-grade zones has increased significantly." Drilling is ongoing along a roughly 1,300-meter mineralized corridor that remains open in multiple directions.
Hole 26DDH-JT-019 Delivers Standout Gold Grades
The headline interval of 30.0 meters at 4.06 g/t Au is considered one of the strongest single holes drilled at Sela Creek so far, according to Sault Star. The 14.0-meter high-grade core at 8.20 g/t Au sits within that broader zone. To put it simply: 8.20 g/t means roughly 8 grams of gold hiding in every tonne of rock — a strong result by industry standards.
The hole also hit several additional zones of gold mineralization both above and below the main interval. That stacking of multiple gold-bearing zones in a single drill hole supports the idea that the Jons Trend is not just one thin vein. It appears to be a wide, layered gold system.
Jons Trend Shapes Up as a Broad, Structured Gold System
Miata describes the Jons Trend as a "stacked and structurally controlled" gold system. In plain terms, the gold sits in multiple layers that follow the shape of the surrounding rock structure. This type of deposit can be more predictable to drill — and potentially larger — than a single narrow vein.
The new hole is a step-out drilled down-dip from earlier high-grade results. That means the team used the angle of the mineralized zone to predict where the gold would appear deeper underground — and the prediction paid off. Verbaas said this shows the company's targeting ability is improving.
1,300-Meter Corridor Still Open at Both Ends
The Jons Trend-Big Berg corridor stretches roughly 1,300 meters. That is a significant strike length for an early-stage project. Critically, according to Ontario Farmer, the corridor remains open — meaning gold mineralization has not yet been fully defined at its edges or at depth. More gold could still be found beyond the current drill results.
Drilling is actively continuing along this trend. Each new hole helps Miata build a clearer picture of where the highest-grade gold sits. The company says the results keep defining high-grade mineralization within the corridor, suggesting the project could grow with more drilling.

Sela Creek is located in Suriname, a gold-producing country on the northeastern coast of South America. The region has an established history of gold mining. Miata is now drilling at what appears to be a sizeable and consistent gold system within that favorable environment, according to Sault Star.
With multiple mineralized zones intersected in a single hole, an expanding corridor, and improving drill targeting, Miata is building a case that Jons Trend is more than a small, isolated deposit.
