TD Asset Management and iCapital Canada Launch Global Real Estate Strategy for Accredited Investors

TD Asset Management Inc. (TDAM) and iCapital Network Canada Ltd. have teamed up to give eligible Canadian accredited investors access to a global real estate strategy, according to Montreal Gazette. iCapital Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of iCapital, launched a new Canadian investment vehicle to make this possible.
This is the second private market strategy iCapital has brought to Canada through its platform, Chatham Daily News reported. The first was a global infrastructure strategy introduced earlier in 2025. The move signals a broader push to open up private market investing to more Canadian investors.
The new vehicle gives eligible Canadian accredited investors a way to access global real property markets. TDAM manages the strategy, bringing its real estate expertise to the table. An accredited investor is someone who meets certain income or asset thresholds set by regulators — a relatively small group compared to the general public.
iCapital Canada handles the operational side. That includes running the platform, managing administration, and providing education resources for investors and advisors, Hanna Herald reported. The goal is to make the process of investing in private real estate simpler and more accessible for those who qualify.
iCapital's Canadian operation is growing quickly. The global infrastructure strategy launched earlier in 2025 was its first product in Canada. This real estate strategy is now the second, according to Recorder. The back-to-back launches show iCapital is moving fast to build out its Canadian platform.
iCapital operates globally and is known for giving wealth managers and their clients access to private market investments. Bringing that model to Canada — through a local subsidiary — lets the company work within Canadian regulations while still tapping global strategies, Whitecourt Star noted.
TD Asset Management is one of Canada's largest institutional investors. It manages assets across many categories, including real estate. Through this partnership, TDAM can offer its global real property capabilities to a new segment of Canadian investors who previously may not have had easy access, Goderich Signal Star reported.
The collaboration lets TDAM focus on what it does best — managing the investments — while iCapital handles the technology and platform side. That kind of split makes it easier to scale and reach more advisors and clients across Canada, according to Pembroke Observer.
Private markets — things like real estate, infrastructure, and private equity — have long been out of reach for most everyday investors. They typically require large minimum investments and complex structures. Accredited investors, who meet higher wealth or income thresholds, have more access, but even they have faced barriers, Clinton News Record noted.
Platforms like iCapital are trying to change that by simplifying the process. By pairing with established managers like TDAM, they can offer credible, institutional-quality strategies through a streamlined digital platform. The Canadian market is seen as a key growth area for this model, according to Cochrane Times Post.
