Unifor members at General Motors voted to ratify new contracts that bring over one billion dollars in investment to Canadian plants and secure wage improvements. The deal returns next-generation Heavy-Duty GMC Sierra production to Oshawa and adds a new transmission facility at St. Catharines, Toronto Sun reported.
The ratification came amid tough conditions—the CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, Ontario sits idle with most workers on indefinite layoff. Unifor plans to keep pushing for production to return there, Seaforth Huron Expositor said.

The contracts commit more than one billion dollars to Canadian General Motors facilities. The St. Catharines Propulsion Plant will build a new single-generation transmission. Oshawa will get the next-generation Heavy-Duty GMC Sierra line back, Calgary Herald confirmed.
