BuzzFeed, Inc. Appoints Stanley Washington to Board of Directors, Effective July 2026

BuzzFeed, Inc. (Nasdaq: BZFD) has named Stanley E. Washington as an independent member of its Board of Directors, effective July 16, 2026, according to Business Wire. Washington, a veteran of financial services, fintech, payments, and media, will also chair the Board's Compensation Committee.
The appointment comes alongside a departure. Greg Coleman, who joined the BuzzFeed Board in 2021, will step down on the same date, AP News reported.
Washington currently serves as President and CEO of Pantheon Global Services Inc., a Beverly Hills-based firm focused on fintech, payments, and commercial real estate development, according to Business Wire. He brings decades of executive experience across multiple industries to the BuzzFeed board.
Beyond chairing the Compensation Committee, Washington will also sit on the Audit Committee and the Nominating, Corporate Governance, and Corporate Responsibility Committee, AP News reported. That gives him a broad oversight role across three of BuzzFeed's key board functions.
Greg Coleman has served on BuzzFeed's Board since 2021, a five-year run that covered the company's Nasdaq listing and a turbulent stretch for digital media. He will exit on July 16, 2026, the same day Washington officially takes his seat, according to Business Wire.
No reason was given for Coleman's departure. The simultaneous swap keeps the Board's overall size steady while bringing in a new profile — one with deep roots in financial services rather than traditional media, Barchart noted.
BuzzFeed has spent recent years cutting costs and searching for a stable business model after a rough public debut. Adding a board member with fintech and payments experience could signal a push toward new revenue streams beyond digital advertising, according to MarketScreener.
Washington's Compensation Committee chair role is also notable. That committee sets executive pay and incentives. His appointment puts someone with a financial and investment background in direct control of how BuzzFeed structures rewards for its leadership team, Business Wire reported.
