Trump Endorsement Setback

Republican voters in Iowa narrowly rejected President Trump's chosen candidate for governor on June 2, handing him one of his most notable primary losses in years. Zach Lahn, a 6th-generation farmer and conservative outsider, beat Rep. Randy Feenstra by less than 1 percentage point — with Lahn capturing roughly 38% of the vote — despite Trump endorsing Feenstra just days before the election, according to The Washington Post.

The loss came the same night that Democratic voters in New Jersey picked Dr. Adam Hamawy, an Army surgeon backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in a crowded 12-candidate primary. The results sent a clear signal: insurgent candidates are winning on both sides of the aisle in 2026.
