Ivanka Trump Faces Bipartisan Backlash Over Luxury Beach Video Amid High Economic Costs

AAA reported that U.S. gasoline prices reached a record Labor Day high of $4.15 per gallon, surpassing the previous Labor Day record of $3.83 set in 2012.
Political journalist Carla Marinucci compared the post to Marie Antoinette’s alleged “Let them eat cake” remark, while MeidasTouch analyst Ben Meiselas wrote, “Bro. These people are actually demons.”
The video controversy followed criticism of Ivanka Trump’s earlier social-media tribute to Dolly Parton, in which she acknowledged that the two had never met while praising Parton.
The clip was about 10 seconds long and was posted on X with a notice saying that “only some accounts can reply,” rather than simply leaving the post open to all users.
Some critics also linked the video to scrutiny of Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff, who had recently traveled to Ukraine for talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about ending the war with Russia.

According to AAA, U.S. gasoline prices recently hit a record Labor Day high of $4.15 per gallon. The timing of Ivanka's luxury vacation post drew criticism from both left and right commentators who called it deeply tone-deaf and out of touch with ordinary Americans' financial struggles.

MeidasTouch analyst Ben Meiselas was even more blunt, writing on social media that the Trump family "are actually demons." BuzzFeed News and other outlets amplified the criticism, highlighting the contrast between Ivanka's luxury lifestyle posts and Americans struggling to afford groceries and rent.
Ivanka posted the video on X (formerly Twitter) with a critical restriction: only some accounts could reply. LittleThings and other observers noted this choice seemed to anticipate backlash. She didn't open the post to public replies, which drew additional criticism that she was trying to dodge accountability.
This wasn't Ivanka's first social media stumble. OK Magazine noted that weeks earlier, she posted a tribute to Dolly Parton while admitting the two had never actually met. Newsweek reported that critics linked the horse video to ongoing scrutiny of Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff over their recent Ukraine talks with President Zelenskyy.
