Disney Dreamlight Valley Announces Season of Scares Update With Nightmare Before Christmas Content

The Keepsake Sea expansion is planned to add new biomes both above and below the sea, along with characters including Milo Thatch, Captain Jack Sparrow and Megara.
The returning Haunted Floating Festival will run from October 7 through October 31, while the Trick-or-Treat event will take place from October 14 through October 31 and introduce new candy-collecting activities and exclusive rewards.
The new Event Board will allow players to track up to three live events at once, adding more specific functionality to the update’s event-management tools.
Additional Premium Shop content will include Stitch’s Vampire Costume Dream Style, the Sinister Bridge Set and a companion bundle featuring Lucifer.
The update is scheduled to launch on both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch on September 23, 2026.
Disney Dreamlight Valley launches its Season of Scares update on September 23, 2026, bringing Halloween thrills to the cozy life sim game. Bleeding Cool reports that players will enter a mysterious mirror in Scrooge McDuck's shop to reach Oogie Boogie's lair and complete six weeks of spooky quests. The update arrives on both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch.
Players who finish the questline before November 4 can unlock Oogie Boogie and Jack Skellington's dog Zero as playable characters. Daps Magic notes the Season of Scares includes weekly challenges, minigames, and the Haunting Elegance Star Path with Halloween-themed outfits and decorations. The Premium Shop will sell spooky items, including Lucifer from Cinderella and Stitch's Vampire Costume.
The Season of Scares draws inspiration from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Players investigate a mysterious portal hidden in Scrooge McDuck's shop. Beyond the mirror lies Oogie Boogie's sinister lair, where the main questline unfolds over six weeks.
Completing the full questline before the November 4 deadline rewards players with exclusive characters. Daps Magic confirms that Oogie Boogie and Zero become unlockable rewards for finishing the Halloween storyline. Players who miss the deadline can still collect items through other methods.
The Haunted Floating Festival returns for 2026, running from October 7 through October 31. A new Trick-or-Treat event launches October 14 and runs through the end of the month. Both events introduce fresh activities and exclusive rewards for players to earn during the Halloween season.
The Trick-or-Treat event focuses on candy-collecting gameplay and new seasonal activities. Players can pursue rewards specific to both the festival and the candy hunt. These October events bookend the six-week Season of Scares questline that began in late September.
Gameloft is adding an Event Board that lets players track up to three live events simultaneously. An emote wheel makes it easier to express yourself in the Valley. These quality-of-life improvements help manage the game's expanding calendar of seasonal content.
The Premium Shop stocks Stitch's Vampire Costume Dream Style, the Sinister Bridge Set, and a companion bundle featuring Lucifer. Players can mix free Season of Scares rewards with paid cosmetics. All content is optional—the core questline remains free to access and complete.
Gameloft announced The Keepsake Sea, a major expansion coming later. Full details are expected October 21. The expansion will add new biomes both above and below the ocean, expanding the Valley in a completely new direction.
The Keepsake Sea will introduce characters including Milo Thatch, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Megara. This announcement hints at Disney content spanning adventure films and The Little Mermaid lore. More information about release timing and features arrives in October.
