Grinch 2: Saving Christmas 3D Platformer Launches September 2026 for All Major Consoles

The sequel adds named power-ups/gadgets beyond generic platforming—Outright Games says players can “Unleash the Snowball Maker to freeze mischievous adversaries,” use “Rocket Skates,” and reach new heights with a “Jetpack.”
The game specifies enemy types that the Grinch/Max will outsmart, including “pesky mice” and “wild forest bats,” alongside other “curious creatures.”
Beyond collecting ornaments, the announcement describes additional interaction mechanics and set-pieces: using “your candy canes to break objects and release dazzling ornaments,” navigating “Who-wood’s towering trees and springy mushrooms,” and “sneaking into the Whos’ cozy homes” and “leaping across hovering platforms.”
Several outlets frame the story as a continuation from the prior Grinch adaptation—Bleeding Cool notes it “picks up right where the previous one left off” if players played The Grinch: Christmas Adventures, and emphasizes the Grinch’s “heart three times bigger” as he returns with Max to prove he’s changed.
Outright Games has announced The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas, a new 3D platformer launching September 18, 2026 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Gematsu reports the game is developed by Casual Brothers and made in cooperation with Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
The sequel shifts away from the 2.5D side-scrolling of the 2023 original and into full 3D worlds. It follows a reformed Grinch who returns to Who-ville — this time to save Christmas, not steal it.
Bleeding Cool notes the story picks up right where the first game left off. The Grinch has a "heart three times bigger" but still has something to prove. His goal: help Who-ville throw its most spectacular Christmas celebration ever, capped off by building the greatest Christmas tree the town has ever seen.
Players explore snowy 3D locations straight from Dr. Seuss lore — Grinch's Cave, Mt. Crumpit, and Who-wood. Along the way, they collect ornaments, sneak into the Whos' cozy homes, and smash objects with candy canes to release hidden decorations, according to Lemonwire.
The sequel introduces named gadgets to shake up the platforming. Players can unleash a Snowball Maker to freeze enemies, strap on Rocket Skates for speed, and use a Jetpack to reach high platforms. Gematsu describes these tools as central to navigating the game's vertical 3D environments.
Enemies include pesky mice, wild forest bats, and other curious creatures. The game also features set-pieces like bouncing across springy mushrooms in Who-wood and leaping across hovering platforms. Outright Games CEO Robin Flodin called it "a vibrant 3D world" that "builds on everything fans loved about the first game."
The game supports local co-op for two players. A second player takes control of Max the dog, teaming up with the Grinch to tackle obstacles and outsmart enemies together. VGChartz highlights the feature as a key part of the family-friendly design.
Outright Games has built its catalog around accessible, all-ages play. The co-op setup fits that mold — parents and kids can play side by side without a steep learning curve. Physical copies will be distributed internationally by Bandai Namco Entertainment, according to Head Topics.
The 2023 original, The Grinch: Christmas Adventures, received a 2.5 out of 5 from TheXboxHub, which called it repetitive by its midpoint. The move to full 3D, plus the gadget-based mechanics, appears aimed directly at addressing those complaints. Outright also went through a rough 2025, laying off 27 staff in the UK and Spain to "align with market conditions," per Gematsu.
Despite the turbulence, the company is pushing forward with a September 18, 2026 launch — well ahead of the holiday season. Outright typically prices its licensed titles around $39.99 at launch. No official price has been confirmed yet for The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas.
