New York Giants and Odell Beckham Jr. Mutually Agree to Part Ways

The New York Giants and Odell Beckham Jr. are parting ways in a move described as mutual, ending the receiver’s brief return to the team that drafted him in 2014. Beckham, 33, appeared in three games, playing about 20 offensive snaps and recording one target with no catches. He rejoined the Giants on a one-year deal but sat behind Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney and rookie Malachi Fields in the receiver rotation; the move gives him a chance to seek a team where he may have a larger role. The decision comes amid other changes to the Giants’ offense, including quarterback Jaxson Dart’s season-ending injury and the acquisition of J.J. McCarthy.
Beckham’s one-year contract with the Giants was worth $1.3 million, and he signed it in June.
The reunion also brought Beckham back under coach John Harbaugh, who coached him during his 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens.
Beckham made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with New York and ranks second in Giants history in receiving yards, with 5,476.
After the release, the Giants had three wide receivers on their active roster; Jameis Winston was set to start at quarterback, with McCarthy likely serving as his backup. New York was 2-1 and scheduled to host Arizona in Week 4.
