Resona Asset Management Adjusts Q2 Portfolio, Trimming Stakes and Initiating New Investment

Dominion Energy: Resona sold 10,107 shares during the quarter, reducing its stake to 272,055 shares valued at about $18.625 million.
Microchip Technology: In addition to cutting to 150,942 shares, Director Matthew W. Chapman sold 3,000 shares on May 28 at an average of $97.52, leaving him with 17,665 shares worth roughly $1.72 million (a 14.52% reduction in his position).
Medical Properties Trust: Resona opened a new stake of 217,327 shares, valued at about $1.004 million, and institutional ownership in MPT is reported at 71.79%.
Waters Corporation: Resona reduced its holding by 6.0% to 29,235 shares, valued at about $10.926 million, and Director Christopher A. Kuebler sold 3,626 shares on August 6.
Resona Asset Management trimmed or exited several U.S. equity positions in the second quarter of 2026, while opening at least one brand-new stake. The Japanese institutional investor cut holdings in Dominion Energy, Microchip Technology, and Waters Corporation, and bought into Medical Properties Trust for the first time, according to Watchlist News.
The moves signal ongoing portfolio rebalancing by one of Japan's larger asset managers across a mix of U.S. mid-cap and large-cap names. The adjustments ranged from modest trims to an entirely new position worth roughly $1 million.
Resona sold 10,107 shares of Dominion Energy during the quarter, per Watchlist News. That left the firm holding 272,055 shares, valued at about $18.6 million. The cut was modest — just 3.6% of its prior position — but fits a broader pattern of reducing exposure across the portfolio.
In Waters Corporation, Resona cut its stake by 6.0%, bringing its total to 29,235 shares worth roughly $10.9 million. Around the same time, Waters Director Christopher A. Kuebler sold 3,626 shares on August 6, adding to the list of insider moves surrounding the stock.
Resona reduced its Microchip Technology position by 7.0%, selling 11,393 shares and leaving it with 150,942 shares worth about $13.7 million, according to Watchlist News. The semiconductor company has faced pressure across the chip sector, and Resona's move mirrors broader caution toward the space.
On May 28, Microchip Director Matthew W. Chapman sold 3,000 shares at an average price of $97.52 each. That sale cut his personal stake by 14.52%, leaving him with 17,665 shares worth about $1.72 million. Both Resona and a company insider were trimming at roughly the same time.
Resona made one notable addition this quarter. The firm bought 217,327 shares of Medical Properties Trust, a real estate investment trust focused on hospitals. The new position is worth about $1.0 million, per Watchlist News. It marks a fresh bet on the healthcare property sector.
Medical Properties Trust already has strong institutional backing. Institutional investors collectively own 71.79% of the company's shares. Resona's entry adds one more large fund to that group, even as the broader REIT sector has faced headwinds from higher interest rates in recent years.
The Microchip and Dominion cuts were not isolated moves. Resona also trimmed its stake in Public Storage by 1.7% during the second quarter, bringing that holding to 92,902 shares, according to Watchlist News. The firm also reduced its Autodesk position by 3.9%, cutting to 73,000-plus shares, per Ticker Report.
Taken together, the Q2 moves show Resona in a steady reduction mode across several U.S. equity names. The firm made small but consistent cuts rather than wholesale exits. The one clear exception was its new Medical Properties Trust position — the only fresh buy disclosed so far this quarter.
