In-N-Out Expands with Four New Locations Across Two States, Offers Competitive Pay

In-N-Out Burger is opening four new locations across two states, with the latest debuting in St. George, Utah, on Aug. 14, according to USA Today. The new spot seats 160 guests, employs 40 workers, and starts pay at $17.50 per hour.
The Utah opening is the chain's 15th location in the state, according to Yahoo Finance. It also marks the first new store since a fatal shooting at an In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Aug. 1.
The four new openings span Utah and California, per USA Today. St. George, Utah, opened Aug. 14. Stockton, California, is also on the list. The other two locations have not been fully detailed in recent reports.
The chain has been on a steady expansion push in 2024. Its second-largest location ever opened on the Las Vegas Strip on June 9, according to The Tennessean. Locations in Timnath, Colorado, and Madison, Tennessee, also opened earlier this year.
The St. George store opened just two weeks after a gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Aug. 1, according to AZ Central. That shooting was fatal. It cast a shadow over the brand's summer expansion plans.
Despite the tragedy, the St. George grand opening drew customers to the new 160-seat dining room. The location brought 40 jobs to the area, according to Herald Tribune. Starting wages of $17.50 per hour are above the federal minimum wage of $7.25.
In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson has been clear about one thing: no online ordering. She has dismissed the idea of digital orders and pickup, according to Indy Star. The chain is known for keeping things simple and in-person.
That old-school approach has not slowed growth. The brand continues to expand into new states while holding firm on its no-frills model. There is no app, no delivery, and no drive-thru-only concept — just the classic counter and fresh ingredients.
The Timnath, Colorado, and Madison, Tennessee, openings earlier in 2024 marked big moves for the West Coast–born chain, according to The Tennessean. Tennessee was a new state for In-N-Out entirely. Fans lined up for hours at both locations.
The chain has long been a cult favorite in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Its slow, careful expansion keeps quality tight. Each new store is seen as a major local event, drawing lines that stretch around the block on opening day, per Freep.
