Krispy Kreme Releases Limited-Time Pokémon Doughnut Collection for 30th Anniversary in US, Canada

Flavor details for each donut include Bulbasaur (vanilla icing with a Bulbasaur piece), Charmander (un glazed shell with chocolate and toasted marshmallow filling, orange caramel icing, red/gold sugar), Squirtle (Original Glazed with cotton candy-flavored buttercreme, sanding sugar and nonpareils, Squirtle piece), Pikachu (un glazed shell with lemon creme and electrifying drizzle), Jigglypuff (Original Glazed with strawberry buttercreme and strawberry cookie), and the Poké Ball (Original Glazed with vanilla icing and red sprinkles, plus chocolate icing).
A separate six-pack without Squirtle and Bulbasaur will be sold at Walmart, Kroger, and Publix, replacing them with plain glazed donuts.
The full Specialty Dozen includes a limited-edition Pokémon box, with pricing around $21 for the dozen; Pokémon cups (five designs) are about $8 each, and a bundle that pairs a cup with the dozen runs around $29.
While the full lineup is limited-time and US/Canada exclusive, some flavors will roll out to select grocery partners for wider availability.
Krispy Kreme is teaming up with The Pokémon Company International to release a six-donut Pokémon collection starting August 18, timed to the franchise's 30th anniversary. The limited-time lineup covers five fan-favorite characters plus a Poké Ball design, with options to buy individually or as a Specialty Dozen, according to IGN.
The collection is available at Krispy Kreme locations across the United States and Canada. Some flavors will also roll out to select grocery partners for broader reach, GameSpot reported.
Each of the six donuts is built around a specific Pokémon. The Pikachu donut is an unglazed shell filled with lemon creme and topped with an electrifying drizzle. The Charmander donut is also an unglazed shell, but it's filled with chocolate and toasted marshmallow, then finished with orange caramel icing and red and gold sugar, according to IGN.
The Squirtle donut starts with an Original Glazed base, then gets cotton candy-flavored buttercreme, sanding sugar, nonpareils, and a Squirtle candy piece on top. The Jigglypuff donut pairs an Original Glazed base with strawberry buttercreme and a strawberry cookie. The Bulbasaur donut uses vanilla icing and a Bulbasaur candy piece. The Poké Ball donut features vanilla icing, red sprinkles, and chocolate icing, GameSpot reported.
The full Specialty Dozen comes in a limited-edition Pokémon box and costs around $21. Fans can also bundle the dozen with one of five Pokémon-themed cups for about $29. The cups hold Original Glazed Gold Dots and cost roughly $8 each on their own. Preorders for the 12-pack are already open, according to IGN.
A separate six-pack will be sold at Walmart, Kroger, and Publix. That pack swaps out the Squirtle and Bulbasaur donuts for plain glazed ones, leaving four Pokémon flavors plus two standard donuts. The retailer pack gives shoppers who skip Krispy Kreme locations a way to join the fun, the Houston Chronicle noted.
Krispy Kreme is adding a one-day event on top of the launch. On August 22, any customer who shows up wearing Pokémon merchandise at a participating location gets a free Original Glazed donut. No purchase is required, GameSpot reported.
The promotion is designed to drive foot traffic and reward fans who already own Pokémon gear. It is a classic cross-brand marketing move — Krispy Kreme gets store visits, and Pokémon gets another moment in the spotlight as it marks three decades since its 1996 debut, according to IGN.
Pokémon turns 30 this year, making it one of the biggest entertainment anniversaries of 2026. The franchise has used the milestone to fuel a wave of branded partnerships across food, fashion, and games. Krispy Kreme's tie-in fits that pattern, giving the doughnut chain a pop-culture hook to draw in both kids and nostalgic adults, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The collection is explicitly limited-time, which adds urgency for fans. With six distinct flavors, a free donut day, themed cups, and a special box, Krispy Kreme is going all-in. Fans who want the full set — especially Squirtle and Bulbasaur — will need to head to an official Krispy Kreme location, not a grocery store, according to IGN.
