Major Investors Boost ASML Holdings, Rebalancing Stakes Across Tech and Pharma Companies

Multiple institutional investors adjusted stakes based on recent 13F filings, with ASML drawing the most attention. Martin Investment Management cut its ASML position by about 29.9%, leaving it with 835 shares worth roughly $893,000, while Spinnaker Trust increased its ASML holdings by 7.7% to 7,823 shares worth about $8.37 million. Other investors also made notable ASML moves, including large increases from firms such as WCM Investment Management and AllianceBernstein, alongside continued institutional ownership of about 26%. In the pharma sector, Martin Investment Management trimmed Novartis by 2.9% and AstraZeneca by 3.2%, holding Novartis at about $29.2 million and AstraZeneca at about $54.3 million, where AstraZeneca was its largest position at roughly 14.2% of the portfolio. Overall, the filings point to selective rebalancing rather than a wholesale shift away from these companies, with activity concentrated among major institutional holders.
Beyond Martin and Spinnaker, Capital International Investors boosted its ASML position by 17.3% (to 3,919,154 shares valued at about $3.79 billion), and Arrowstreet Capital Limited Partnership and the Regents of the University of California also initiated new ASML stakes (about $505.5 million and $413.3 million, respectively).
ASML changes also included Van ECK Associates lifting its stake by 16.6% (to 2,148,506 shares valued at about $2.08 billion) and Bank of America Corp DE increasing its ASML holdings by 8.3% (to 1,865,254 shares valued at about $1.81 billion).
In Novartis filings, Raymond James Financial increased its NVS stake by 77.7% (to 1,648,174 shares valued at about $211.4 million), and Bank of Montreal Can raised its stake by 85.0% (to 1,045,191 shares valued at about $134.0 million).
For AstraZeneca, additional large holders adjusted positions as well: Bank of America Corp DE increased AZN by 4.7% (to 32,633,139 shares worth about $2.50 billion) and Dimensional Fund Advisors LP raised its AZN stake by 9.4% (to 6,805,896 shares worth about $521.5 million).
