Federal Agencies Going Dark a Day Early

Nonessential federal offices are closed Friday. That includes two major agencies: the Social Security Administration and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, according to KSHB. If you need help from either agency, you will have to wait until after the holiday weekend.

Essential government services are a different story. Agencies that the public depends on around the clock will keep their doors open. The National Weather Service is one example, ABC15 notes. Emergency services and other critical operations are also expected to continue as normal.
