Amazon suspends partnership with 21 Air following fatal Miami runway crash

Amazon has suspended its partnership with 21 Air after a plane carrying Amazon packages fell off a Miami runway and killed five people. The Boeing 767 came in fast and then accelerated past the end of the runway, causing it to slam into a van carrying workers from a plane cleaning company. The incident occurred on Sept. 6 and left five people dead. North Carolina-based 21 had flown packages for Amazon since 2024. The jet's ownership history, weather conditions at the airport, maintenance records and operations by 21 Air are expected to be reviewed by investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board.
