Terra Grantham Permanently Appointed CFO at CPI Card Group, Drives Digital Payments Evolution

Grantham joined CPI in 2017 and has progressed to Senior Vice President, Enterprise Strategy and Growth since October 2025; previously served as Senior Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis and Strategy with treasury responsibilities.
John Lowe said Terra’s appointment 'reflects the strength of our leadership team' and highlighted her impact on CPI’s growth and her financial and strategic leadership.
Terra Grantham said, 'I am honored to be appointed Chief Financial Officer and grateful for the confidence that John, the Board, and our leadership team have placed in me.'
Grantham helped drive CPI’s evolution into a digitally enabled payments company through initiatives spanning enterprise transformation, strategic planning, capital allocation, and mergers and acquisitions.
An 8-K filing confirms the appointment date as June 29, 2026 and notes she has been Interim Chief Financial Officer since February 2026 and will continue to serve as the company’s principal financial officer.
CPI Card Group (Nasdaq: PMTS) named Terra Grantham as its permanent chief financial officer on June 29, 2026, ending a four-month interim stint she began in February CPI Card Group. Grantham, 55, will earn a base salary of $450,000 and a short-term incentive target of $275,000 for 2026, according to an SEC Form 8-K filing MarketWatch.
Grantham joined CPI in 2017, starting in senior finance roles focused on financial planning and analysis. She built treasury and strategy experience over eight years before being promoted to Senior Vice President of Enterprise Strategy and Growth in October 2025 Nasdaq. That role gave her direct oversight of capital allocation and mergers and acquisitions — key tools CPI is using to shift its business model.
When CPI's previous CFO departed in February 2026, the board turned to Grantham as interim CFO and principal financial officer. She held both titles for four months before the board made the role permanent TipRanks.
CEO John Lowe said the decision was straightforward. "Terra's appointment reflects the strength of our leadership team," Lowe said. "Her deep understanding of our business, financial acumen, and strategic leadership have been central to our evolution into a digitally enabled payments company" CPI Card Group.
Grantham said she was grateful for the trust placed in her. "I am honored to be appointed Chief Financial Officer," she said, adding that she looks forward to "continuing our work to drive growth and deliver value for our customers and shareholders" MarketWatch.
CPI was once a traditional manufacturer of physical EMV chip cards. The company has been pushing into instant card issuance, digital wallets, and cloud-based card management platforms. Grantham led key parts of that transformation, including M&A efforts to acquire fintech capabilities GuruFocus.
Hiring a CFO with a strategy and growth title — rather than a pure accounting background — signals where the board wants the company to go. Analysts expect CPI to target smaller digital-first payment startups through acquisitions in late 2026 and into 2027.
Market watchers view the interim-to-permanent pipeline as a sign of stability. It reduces onboarding risk because the CFO already knows the company's books, team, and strategy. Grantham's four-month trial gave the board real proof of her performance before committing TipRanks.
Some investors argue that a company undergoing major transformation benefits from an outside hire who can challenge legacy costs. By choosing a nine-year insider, CPI has bet on institutional knowledge over outside disruption. The permanent appointment is expected to steady the PMTS stock heading into the Q3 2026 earnings call.
