Disneyland Celebrates 70th Anniversary, Welcomes Its Billionth Guest with Special VIP Day

Donald Duck and Daisy Duck joined the ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A. alongside Mickey and Minnie, expanding the character lineup during the unveiling of the one‑billionth guest milestone.
The VIP experience for the Robles family included a ride on Soarin’ Across America, which is located at Disney California Adventure.
The milestone ceremony took place at the Main Street Train Station/Platform, where the population sign is prominently displayed at Disneyland Railroad’s Main Street station.
The one billionth guest was Andres Robles, an 8-year-old from Arizona, whose parents are Alejandra and Jose Robles.
The Robles family also received a private VIP Tour Guide as part of their day’s experiences during the celebration.
Disneyland has welcomed its one billionth guest — and the lucky visitor was an 8-year-old boy from Arizona. Andres Robles, celebrating his birthday with his family, was surprised with the honor during a visit to the Anaheim park, according to Press Telegram and Daily News.
The milestone marks the combined all-time attendance of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure surpassing one billion visitors. The achievement comes just weeks before the park's 71st anniversary, Daily Breeze reported.
Andres Robles walked into Disneyland expecting a birthday trip. Instead, he became history. His parents, Alejandra and Jose Robles, were with him when Disney Ambassadors revealed the surprise, according to My News LA. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse joined the family at the Main Street Train Station for the big moment.
Donald Duck and Daisy Duck also took part in the ceremony. The updated population sign — now reading 1,000,000,000 — was unveiled on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Railroad's Main Street station, Press Enterprise reported.
After the ceremony, the Robles family was treated to a full VIP experience. They received a private VIP Tour Guide for the day, according to Daily News. One highlight was a visit to Walt Disney's private apartment, located above the Main Street Fire Station — a rare behind-the-scenes stop not open to regular park guests.
The family also rode Soarin' Across America at Disney California Adventure, next door to Disneyland. The ride offers a sweeping aerial tour of American landmarks. The full day of access gave the Robles family experiences most visitors never get, Press Telegram noted.
Disneyland first opened on July 17, 1955. That makes this year its 70th anniversary — a milestone the park has been marking with special events and celebrations throughout 2025. Reaching one billion combined guests adds a major historic marker to that already big year, Daily Breeze reported.
The billion-visitor count covers both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, which opened in 2001. Together, the two parks have drawn guests for decades from across the country and around the world. The timing — just weeks before the 71st anniversary — makes the number even more striking, according to Press Enterprise.
