Samsara Swings to Profit, Reports 31% Revenue Jump in Third Consecutive Profitable Quarter

Samsara reported a swing to first-quarter profit, with GAAP net income of $44.5 million versus a year-ago loss, while revenue rose 31% year-over-year to $478.8 million. The company also highlighted strong subscription momentum, including annual recurring revenue nearing $2 billion and ongoing customer expansion, alongside improved GAAP operating profitability and margins. Despite beating analysts’ expectations on both revenue and non-GAAP EPS, the initial market reaction was muted, with shares trading slightly lower after hours. Samsara added new customers and expansion deals, and said most high-spend customers buy multiple products, supporting deeper account penetration. For the next quarter, it guided revenue of about $482 million to $484 million and adjusted EPS of $0.15 to $0.16, and for fiscal 2027 projected revenue growth to roughly $2.01 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.70 to $0.72.
Samsara reported GAAP income from operations of $7.2 million, swinging from a $33.3 million operating loss a year earlier—marking its third consecutive quarter of GAAP profitability.
Profitability details showed margin mix changes: non-GAAP gross margin was 76% (down from 79% a year ago), while non-GAAP operating margin rose to 19% from 14% in the prior-year quarter.
Subscription momentum included $101 million of net new annual recurring revenue (ARR) during the quarter; revenue from customers spending at least $100,000 annually reached $1.2 billion (+37% YoY), with Samsara ending the quarter at 3,363 such customers (and 190 customers spending at least $1 million annually).
New-logo and expansion wins cited in the quarter included Hertz, Foundation Building Materials, and the State of Connecticut, plus a specific expansion example where a global foodservice distributor replaced its telematics provider with Samsara.
In another datapoint investors watched after the print, Quiver Quantitative reported heavy insider selling: in the past six months there were 204 insider stock trades and none were purchases (204 sales), including major sales by CEO Sanjit Biswas and CFO John Bicket.
