Sony Reportedly Partners With People Can Fly to Develop a Killzone Remake

Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer servers remained active until August 2022, nearly nine years after the game launched on PS4 in 2013.
Sony once positioned Killzone as its flagship first-person-shooter franchise and promoted it as a potential “Halo killer,” although the series did not achieve comparable commercial or critical success.
People Can Fly’s March 2025 agreement with PlayStation describes Project Delta as a PS5 game based on PlayStation-owned intellectual property; the project was initially announced only as a prototype, without identifying the franchise.
If People Can Fly is involved, the Killzone project would join a crowded development slate that includes Project Florence with 2K and other projects tied to Krafton and Microsoft licenses.
Sony's Killzone franchise is returning to development, though no announcement is imminent. Gaming Bolt reports that Guerrilla Games is collaborating with an outside studio on either a remaster or a full remake of the dormant first-person shooter series.
People Can Fly, the Polish developer behind Bulletstorm and Outriders, is the likely partner, VG Chartz reports. The original 2004 PlayStation 2 game is widely considered the leading candidate for an update, though details remain unconfirmed. The Killzone series has been dormant since 2013, when Killzone: Shadow Fall launched on PS4.

The Polish studio already has significant PlayStation commitments. People Can Fly is developing Project Florence with 2K and maintains other projects tied to Krafton and Microsoft licenses. Adding Killzone to this slate represents a major investment in the company's development capacity and Sony's confidence in the partnership.
The Killzone remake is in very early development stages, and VG Chartz reports that no imminent announcement is expected. Details about whether the project is a full remake or a remaster remain unconfirmed. Sony's focus on this franchise revival reflects a broader strategy to revitalize dormant PlayStation properties.
