One Piece Anime shifts to a seasonal schedule and expects return in 2027.

The One Piece anime’s September 27 broadcast of Episode 1180 was its final episode of the year, with new episodes now expected to return in 2027; no specific return date has been announced. The extended break reflects Toei Animation’s shift away from the series’ year-round weekly schedule to a maximum of 26 episodes annually, with the stated aim of focusing on the main story, adapting roughly one manga chapter per episode, and strengthening production. The change also eliminates recap episodes, but means viewers will see fewer episodes each year.
Toei producer Ryuta Koike said the reduced episode count was not driven by budget constraints or excessive pressure on the production team; he said the change was intended to let the anime adapt roughly one manga chapter per episode.
The Elbaph Arc resumed on April 5 after a three-month break, and Episode 1180 featured Yuichi Nakamura’s debut as the voice of Loki.
Toei’s move away from a year-round schedule follows fan frustration with delays and recap episodes; the studio has said more time between arcs should give production teams breathing room.
The franchise has other projects on the horizon, including a live-action series’ third season slated for 2027 and a WIT Studio remake anime scheduled to premiere in February 2027.
