Konami Sets Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Launch for October 15 with New Details

Konami has announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a new 2D action-adventure entry in the classic franchise, launching Oct. 15, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). The game stars Rose Belmont as she explores Dracula’s castle in Paris in 1499, battling with the Vampire Killer whip and a range of weapons and relics, including trapeze-like whip movement and fast-paced offense/defense customization. A central Arcana system lets players capture defeated legendary bosses into tarot cards—such as Death, Medusa, and Carmilla—to unlock spells and special actions, deepening Rose’s build options. Ahead of launch, Konami shared a trailer and began pre-orders, with bonuses including an Alucard-style costume and, for the Midnight Edition, additional costumes, in-game items, and a digital sound and art gallery. Several outlets note a platform mismatch: while October 15 is confirmed for major platforms, the Nintendo Switch version is only described as “2026,” with Switch and even Switch 2 potentially arriving later, since the Switch logo was absent from the Xbox showcase trailer lineup. Konami has indicated that further Switch-specific pre-order and release details will be announced later.
Konami said Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is co-developed by Konami and Evil Empire, with production support from indie studio Motion Twin.
The story is set in Paris in 1499—explicitly described as 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.
Konami’s Arcana/boss-capture system will include not only legendary figures like Death, Medusa, and Carmilla, but also additional adversaries such as Joan of Arc.
Pre-order bonuses are more specific than costume language alone: the Midnight Edition includes the base game plus three items—“a Trevor-style costume, a Sypha-style costume, and a Family Portrait sorcerer tool”—and a digital sound/art gallery featuring 71 background music tracks.
Konami frames Rose’s combat options around “seven distinct weapon categories,” alongside relic-based tuning for offense and defense.
