Roblox Introduces AI-Powered Build Tab, Enabling Mobile-First Game Prototyping for Creators

Build and Roblox Studio share the same backend, models, and chat history, enabling creators to start in Build on mobile and seamlessly continue work in Studio or launch Studio agents while tracking progress from a phone.
Cube is Roblox’s own 3D foundation model that turns a text prompt into usable 3D assets, reinforcing Build’s prompt-to-asset workflow.
A sample Build prompt demonstrates the feature: 'Let's make a cozy adventure game set in a dense forest with environmental obstacles.'
Roblox will begin testing the new agentic tools—playtesting, analytics, and experiments—across Build and Studio starting on July 28.
Roblox has launched a new mobile feature called Build, letting anyone type a text prompt and get a playable game prototype — no coding required. TechCrunch reports the feature is rolling out now inside the Roblox app on iPhone and iPad, targeting the platform's nearly 150 million daily active users.
The announcement positions Roblox as a direct competitor in AI-powered game creation. The company, valued at around $40 billion, is betting that lowering the barrier to creation will drive more content and keep its massive user base engaged.
Build lives inside a new tab in the Roblox mobile app. A user types something like 'Let's make a cozy adventure game set in a dense forest with environmental obstacles' and the AI generates a playable starting point. Mac Observer notes the feature is designed for people with zero programming experience.
Behind the scenes, a suite of AI models handles the heavy lifting. Different models manage gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visuals, and audio. The result is a rough but functional game prototype, built entirely from a single text description.
Build is not a separate product — it shares the same backend, AI models, and chat history as Roblox Studio, the platform's full desktop creation tool. 9to5Mac explains that creators can start a project on their phone in Build and pick it up later in Studio without losing any progress.
Roblox also introduced Cube, its own 3D foundation model. Cube turns a text prompt into a usable 3D asset. That means creators can generate custom objects and environments directly from words, skipping the manual modeling process entirely.
Roblox is rolling out three new agentic tools — a playtesting agent, an analytics agent, and an experiment agent. These tools are designed to help creators improve engagement and earn more money from their games. Testing begins on July 28 across both Build and Studio, TechBuzz reported.
The playtesting agent can automatically test a game and flag problems. The analytics agent tracks how players behave. The experiment agent runs tests to see what changes make players stay longer or spend more. Together, they give small creators tools that big studios normally pay teams of people to do.
The Build launch comes alongside a notable financial disclosure. Roblox insiders have sold $8.4 million worth of company shares over the past three months. The sales were made as Roblox stock trades near its $40 billion market cap, adding context to the timing of the announcement.
Roblox says the goal of Build is to grow a more diverse creator base while keeping the platform focused on high-quality, discoverable experiences. Yahoo Tech noted the feature requires no prior game development knowledge, a clear signal that Roblox wants creators — not just players — to be anyone.
