Kyle Larson wins the Kansas Cup race while Chandler Smith secures sixth place

At Kansas Speedway, Chandler Smith recovered from a pit-road penalty to finish sixth in Saturday’s Truck Series Chase race, remaining third in the standings but falling 71 points behind winner Kaden Honeycutt. In Sunday’s Cup race, Ross Chastain finished 15th and Riley Herbst 25th, while Ricky Stenhouse Jr. placed 32nd after struggling to gain track position. Noah Gragson’s race ended early with an engine failure, leaving him 36th. Kyle Larson won Sunday’s race.
Chandler Smith started 15th and was sent to the rear for vehicle interference after contact involving a tire from Brent Crews’ pit stall. Although he scored no stage points, his sixth-place finish earned 31 points and left him just one point ahead of fourth-place Gio Ruggiero.
Ross Chastain started 13th, completed all 267 laps and briefly led one lap during pit sequencing. His 22 points count toward his season standing, but not the championship Chase, because he did not qualify for the 16-driver field.
Riley Herbst improved from 34th on the starting grid to 25th, completing 266 laps and finishing one lap down. He earned 12 points, which count only toward his overall season position because he is outside the Chase field.
Smoke from Noah Gragson’s car brought out a caution early in Stage 2; he completed just 112 laps before the engine failure ended his race. He is tied with Cole Custer at 31st in the season standings, 50 points behind Riley Herbst, with six races remaining.
