Rogers Charity Classic 2026 Finalizes Star-Studded PGA TOUR Champions Field in Calgary

Canada's only PGA TOUR Champions event has locked in its 78-player field for 2026, featuring a who's-who of golf royalty. The Rogers Charity Classic runs August 21–23 at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club in Calgary, with World Golf Hall of Famers, major champions, and hot rookies all set to compete, according to Edmonton Journal.
The tournament has raised over $164 million for Alberta children's charities since it launched in 2013. The 2025 edition alone set a record with $26.6 million raised for more than 316 local youth organizations, Cochrane Times Post reported.
World Golf Hall of Famer Bernhard Langer, 68, returns to Calgary after committing on July 14. Langer holds a record 47 PGA TOUR Champions victories. He said it will be "great to go back to Calgary" and noted it is "our only stop in Canada." Spanish crowd favourite Miguel Angel Jiménez, 62, also returns alongside fellow Hall of Famer Padraig Harrington, according to Pembroke Observer.
The hottest player in the field may be Zach Johnson. He turned 50 in February 2026 and has already won four times this season, including the Portugal Invitational on August 2. He sits second in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. Major champions Mike Weir, Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen, and David Duval also join the lineup, Chatham Daily News reported.
Rocco Mediate won the very first Rogers Charity Classic — then called the Shaw Charity Classic — back in 2013. He last played in Calgary in 2019. Mediate called the city "one of my favourite places on earth" and praised its fundraising as something that "just doesn't happen anywhere else," Fairview Post reported.
Defending champion Richard Green is also back. The Australian left-hander won his first PGA TOUR Champions title at Canyon Meadows in 2025. He will look to repeat on the par-70, 7,061-yard course that rewards precision over power, according to Whitecourt Star.
Rogers Communications, the title sponsor since 2023, kicked off its 2026 charity push with a $1 million donation in June. The company also transformed the par-3 16th hole into a Toronto Blue Jays ballpark experience. Every birdie made on that hole triggers a $1,000 donation to the Jays Care Foundation, The Observer reported.
The Rogers Birdies for Kids program offers a matching pool of up to 50 percent on public donations made through late August. Tournament chairman Jim Riddell said the goal is to "make a positive impact on the youth in our community." The US $2.5 million purse gives players plenty of incentive to compete hard while the money flows to local charities, according to Hanna Herald.
The Rogers Charity Classic began in 2013 as the Shaw Charity Classic under the Patron Group, founded by the late Calgary oilman Clay Riddell. Rogers Communications took over as title sponsor in 2023 after acquiring Shaw. The tournament has won the PGA TOUR Champions President's Award three times — in 2014, 2015, and 2017 — as the top event on the senior tour, Sudbury Star reported.
Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri said the event "delivers an extraordinary impact for communities, families and children across Alberta year after year." TC Energy president François Poirier joined the Patron Group in June 2026, adding more Western Canada corporate muscle behind the event, according to Shoreline Beacon.
