Police Launch Murder Probe After 19-Year-Old Woman Fatally Shot in Finchley

Police in north London are investigating a fatal shooting in Dale Grove, Finchley, after a 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene in the early hours of Monday morning. Officers were called shortly after 12:15 a.m. following reports of gunshots, and emergency services attended, though they were unable to save her. A murder investigation has been launched, with detectives working to determine what happened; a formal identification and post-mortem examination are expected in due course. Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo leading the probe said police are supporting the victim’s family and acknowledged concerns in the community. Authorities have not made any arrests and are maintaining a heightened police presence over the coming days. Police are appealing for any witnesses and for doorbell or dashcam footage from around midnight in or near Dale Grove, and tips can be provided via the non-emergency line or Crimestoppers anonymously.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained/specialist officers (including liaison officers).
The alert came from the London Ambulance Service: paramedics reported gunshots from the Dale Grove property and called police at about 00:15/12:15am; officers then secured the scene as forensic teams collected evidence.
Police’s appeal included specific reporting instructions: call the non-emergency line on 101 and quote reference 34/8JUN, or give anonymous information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Police said the increased visible presence is intended not only to reassure residents but also to help deter further crime while inquiries continue.
