Chick-fil-A Offers Free Waffle Fries Through New In-App Game, 'Spot the Cows'

Chick-fil-A is giving away free waffle fries through a new in-app game called "Spot the Cows," but the clock is ticking — the offer expires July 13, 2025, or whenever supplies run out, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
The deal arrives just in time for National French Fry Day, and Chick-fil-A is not the only chain rolling out freebies. McDonald's, Checkers & Rally's, and White Castle are also dangling french fry deals to hungry customers this week, Lancaster Eagle-Gazette reported.
The game lives inside the Chick-fil-A app. Players search for hidden cows and dress them up to earn the reward. You must be signed into a Chick-fil-A One account to play. No account, no fries.
Once you complete the game, the free waffle fry reward shows up in the "Rewards" tab of the app. From there, you have two ways to use it. Add it to a mobile order, or scan your QR code at the register in-store, Daily Jeff noted.
The free fry reward expires on July 13, 2025. But the real deadline may come sooner. Chick-fil-A says the offer is available only "while supplies last," meaning heavy demand could cut it short, according to The Daily Record.
Customers who want to lock in the deal should act fast. Download the app, sign in, play the game, and save the reward before it disappears from the Rewards tab.
Chick-fil-A is not alone in celebrating National French Fry Day. McDonald's, Checkers & Rally's, and White Castle are all offering their own fry deals this week. The holiday has become a reliable moment for fast-food brands to drive app downloads and customer visits, Lancaster Eagle-Gazette reported.
The strategy is simple: tie a free item to an app action. Chains push customers to download or open their apps, creating a habit that pays off long after the freebie is gone.
The "Spot the Cows" game leans on one of fast food's most recognizable mascots. Chick-fil-A's billboard cows — famous for urging people to "Eat Mor Chikin" — have been a brand staple for decades. Putting them at the center of a mobile game is a natural fit, Daily Jeff noted.
The move also shows how fast-food loyalty apps have evolved. Free food is now the entry point, not the reward itself. The real goal is getting customers deeper into the app ecosystem, where repeat orders and upsells follow.
