Verizon Introduces 'Simplicity' Plans with No Fees, New Streaming Bundles, and Loyalty Perks

To qualify for the $30/month promotional rate, Verizon says customers must enable autopay and take the switching-carrier discount; the plan also requires porting an existing number from another operator to pay as little as $30/month.
Verizon Loyalty isn’t just cashback: it includes “Verizon Dollars” offering “3 percent cash back on your bill each month,” plus a “Verizon Shine” benefit with access to ticket sales, sweepstakes, and giveaways.
Beyond core unlimited talk/text/data and hotspot-roaming-satellite texting, the base Simplicity plan also includes “call filtering” and “Verizon Family,” described as a parental controls app.
Verizon specified bundle pricing and contents: the “Movie Lovers” bundle adds Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ (with ads) plus Netflix and HBO Max (with ads) for $23/month—services that Verizon says would cost $40/month if purchased separately.
Verizon framed the overhaul around consumer dissatisfaction with complexity: it cited research that “66% of Americans” want “clearer choices,” and it quoted CEO Dan Schulman saying the industry has “burdened people with complex plans” and “so-called ‘rewards’ with tons of caveats.”
Verizon launched a sweeping overhaul of its consumer wireless business on June 16, 2026, scrapping $40 activation and upgrade fees and introducing a new "Simplicity" plan starting at $45 per line — or as low as $30 for new switchers who use autopay and port their number. The move is the first major initiative under new CEO Dan Schulman, who said the industry has "burdened people with complex plans" and "so-called 'rewards' with tons of caveats." PCMag
The rollout also includes a "Verizon Loyalty" program offering 3% cash back on monthly bills and a new "Verizon One" bundle that pairs mobile service with home internet for $70 a month, taxes and fees included. Reuters reported the changes are not expected to alter Verizon's 2026 financial guidance, though analysts called the long-term upside cautiously optimistic.
The headline price of $30 per line is real — but it requires three things: porting an existing number from another carrier, enrolling in autopay, and signing up for paper-free billing. Without those steps, the price sits at $45 to $55 per line. CNET and Reddit users were quick to flag that the $30 figure is buried under these conditions, which Verizon does not emphasize in its ads.
Even so, the core Simplicity plan includes a strong baseline. Every line gets unlimited 5G talk, text, and data, a 10GB mobile hotspot allowance, roaming in Canada and Mexico, satellite texting on supported devices, call filtering, and a parental controls app called Verizon Family. Fox Business noted that Verizon framed the plan around research showing 66% of Americans want clearer pricing choices.
To get the fee waivers and rewards, customers must enroll in the Verizon Loyalty program through the My Verizon app. Once enrolled, members earn "Verizon Dollars" — 3% cash back on their monthly bill, redeemable at brands like Starbucks, Sephora, and Hilton. The cash-back benefit officially kicks in on July 1, 2026, according to Reuters.
Loyalty members also get access to "Verizon Shine," which includes early ticket sales, sweepstakes, and giveaways. PCMag noted the program closely resembles T-Mobile Tuesdays — and that "Verizon Dollars" is essentially a revival of a failed 2019 "My Rewards+" program. Analyst Roger Entner of Recon Analytics told Fierce Network the strategy has "Dan Schulman written all over it," comparing it to his playbook at Virgin Mobile.
Verizon is offering optional streaming bundles as paid add-ons. The "Movie Lovers" bundle costs $23 per month and includes Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, and HBO Max — all with ads. Verizon says buying those services separately would cost $39.97 per month, making the bundle a saving of roughly $17. Verizon Media described it as one economic decision instead of five separate subscriptions.
The bundling strategy is not just about saving money. It locks customers into a broader Verizon ecosystem alongside the new "Verizon One" plan, which combines one mobile line with Fios 500 Mbps or 5G Home Plus internet for $70 a month, all-in. Verizon Support confirmed that Verizon One mobile data is unlimited but gets slowed to 4 Mbps after 500 GB in a billing cycle — a detail absent from mainstream advertising.
Dropping the $40 activation and upgrade fees — fees Verizon actually raised just a year ago — directly removes the biggest reason customers delay switching or upgrading. PCMag called it one of the most significant friction-removal moves Verizon has made in years. Chief Transformation Officer Alfonso Villanueva said the goal is to drive higher retention by asking, "How do we create a value proposition that makes sense for every cohort?" according to Reuters.
The trade-off is real. Waiving $40 fees across millions of transactions means lost immediate revenue. Verizon is betting that higher Customer Lifetime Value — repeat billing, streaming add-ons, and home internet bundles — will more than cover the gap. Wall Street is watching. Reuters reported analysts see the moves as "accretive to revenue" over time, but the 2026 outlook stays unchanged for now.
