Abby Trainor of Windham has been named the 2026 Varsity Maine Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year, capping a historic career with 438 total points — the most ever by a girls lacrosse player in Maine history. Central Maine reported that Trainor became the first girls lacrosse player in the state to reach 400 career points, a milestone no one had reached before her.
Trainor finished her senior season with 93 goals and 58 assists. She earned a second straight All-American selection from USA Lacrosse and will take her game to Division I Fairfield University in Connecticut next fall.

Trainor's career numbers are staggering for Maine lacrosse. She finished with 319 goals and 119 assists across her high school career. No girls lacrosse player in the state had ever scored 400 career points before her, according to Central Maine. She blew past that mark and landed at 438.

Trainor Heads to Division I Fairfield University

Trainor was not the only standout in Maine this season. Sun Journal reported that the full 2026 Varsity Maine All-State girls lacrosse team featured strong performers across the state. On defense, Clark was a key player for the Rangers with a 60 percent save rate in goal.
Howes was named the top offensive threat for her team on the All-State list. The Central Maine region also saw standout play, with Maranacook/Winthrop and Messalonskee leading the area in top-player selections, according to Central Maine.
