Grand Theft Auto VI Preorders Open June 25 for Long-Awaited Florida-Inspired Game

Rockstar Games has opened the final countdown to one of gaming's most anticipated releases. Pre-orders for *Grand Theft Auto VI* go live on June 25, 2026, for PlayStation and Xbox digital stores, with the game set for a global release on November 19, 2026 — 13 years after its predecessor Florida Today.
The game is set in Leonida, a fictional version of Florida that includes a reimagined Miami called Vice City, the Everglades, and the Florida Keys. Rockstar has not confirmed pricing, but the cover art is already live — featuring guns, a sports car, a speeding boat, a motorcycle, and a helicopter Naples News.
Rockstar Games made the announcement on June 18, 2026, via its official Newswire and X, formerly Twitter. The post confirmed pre-orders start June 25 on digital storefronts and "select retailers." The November 19 release date had already been pushed back twice from an original Fall 2025 window The Ledger.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick reaffirmed the November date during a May 2026 earnings call, saying the launch window is "locked in" and that marketing would "ramp up this summer." Rockstar has still not confirmed a PC version, which has frustrated some fans Ocala.
GTA VI is the franchise's first return to the Vice City setting since 2006. The fictional state of Leonida covers a massive world — from Vice City's Miami-style skyline to swampy Everglades-inspired wetlands called Grassrivers and a stretch of islands based on the Florida Keys Jacksonville.
The game's first trailer leaned hard into Florida's wild reputation, with nods to real-life "Florida Man" news stories, social media culture, and over-the-top excess. The new cover art adds a crocodile, flamingos, and a character with a "Vice Baby" tattoo to the mix Herald Tribune.
GTA VI features two main characters: Jason and Lucia. Lucia is the first female lead in the series' 3D era. Their story is described as a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal partnership set across Leonida TC Palm.
The cover art places Jason and Lucia at its center. Surrounding panels show a Sea Sparrow helicopter with a minigun, a yellow sports car, a boat, and a motorcycle doing a wheelie. The cover follows the classic nine-panel grid Rockstar has used since 2001's GTA III News Herald.
Analysts predict GTA VI could sell up to 46 million units in its first 24 hours, which would make it the largest entertainment launch in history. Take-Two Interactive's stock is expected to swing sharply as November approaches Daily Commercial.
Other major game publishers are reportedly shifting their own late-2026 release dates to avoid competing with the game — a pattern the industry calls the "GTA Shadow." Meanwhile, Sony and Microsoft are both expected to see a boost in console sales tied to the launch NWF Daily News.
