Twins Defeat Braves 4-1 with Strong Pitching, Bell and Jeffers Driving Runs

The Minnesota Twins topped the Atlanta Braves 4-1 on Wednesday, handing Atlanta its second straight loss in the three-game series. Josh Bell and Ryan Jeffers did the damage at the plate, while the Braves' bats could manage just one run all night. Atlanta News First reported the result.
Tyler Mahle pitched well enough to keep Atlanta in the game, but the Braves' offense gave him little to work with. Drake Baldwin's solo home run in the sixth inning was the only bright spot for Atlanta, according to WMBF News.
Josh Bell got Minnesota on the board with his 17th home run of the year, a two-run shot that gave the Twins a 2-0 lead. The blast was the key blow of the game, putting Atlanta in an early hole it never escaped. WBTV noted that Bell's power has been a steady force in the Twins lineup all season.
Ryan Jeffers then drove in Minnesota's other two runs with a two-run double. That pushed the lead to 4-0 and effectively put the game out of reach. The Braves had no answer for Minnesota's timely hitting, Fox Carolina reported.
Drake Baldwin gave Atlanta fans something to cheer about with a solo home run in the sixth inning. That cut the deficit to 4-1. But it was too little, too late. The Braves could not string together any other rallies. WLBT reported that the Atlanta offense struggled badly all night.
Zebby Matthews and Yoendrys Gómez both delivered strong outings on the mound for Minnesota. The two combined to keep Atlanta's hitters off balance throughout the game. Mahle pitched well for the Braves, but his effort went to waste without run support, according to Fox 10 TV.
The three-game series wraps up Thursday. AJ Smith-Shawver will take the mound for Atlanta against Minnesota's Taj Bradley. The Braves will need a strong offensive performance to avoid a series sweep. WMBF News noted that Minnesota has controlled the series with its pitching and timely hitting.
