The Cursor iOS app is built for oversight, not editing. Developers can spin up new agents, check on their progress, and send follow-up prompts — all from their phone. It syncs with desktop sessions in real time via cloud-based infrastructure. Apple's Live Activities feature shows updates on the lock screen, so you can track a running agent without opening the app.
What the app won't do is let you edit code directly. Cursor is clear that the mobile experience centers on prompting and directing agents, not hands-on development. SpaceX acquired Anysphere for $60 billion just weeks before this launch — roughly 600 times Cursor's estimated $100 million in annual revenue. That gap signals what the market believes: agentic platforms are worth far more than coding assistants. Cursor now counts over 1 million paying customers, with 70% of Fortune 1,000 companies as clients, according to The Next Web.
Not everyone is thrilled. Some senior engineers argue that mobile agent management risks turning software development into a purely supervisory role — degrading deep technical skills over time. Traditionalists warn that "vibe-checking" an agent's output on a phone screen, rather than reviewing it carefully at a desk, could pile up technical debt fast. The debate over what a developer actually does is now very much open.
