Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev begins a major state visit to South Korea.

The visit is taking place from September 13 to 16, 2026, at the invitation of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold talks with President Lee Jae Myung in both restricted and expanded formats, alongside meetings with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.
The Uzbek president was received at Seoul Air Base by South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yun-chul, as well as other officials.
The first Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit is scheduled for September 16, with the Seoul Declaration expected to be adopted at its conclusion.
During the meeting with Uzbek citizens in Seoul, Mirziyoyev discussed the aspirations of compatriots living in South Korea and the importance of events planned during his visit, in addition to encouraging them to use their acquired knowledge and skills for Uzbekistan’s development.

The visit focuses on expanding trade, investment, and technology cooperation between the two nations. Zamin noted that Mirziyoyev will meet with President Lee Jae Myung, senior officials, and business leaders, while also hosting the first Central Asia–South Korea Summit on September 16.
Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold formal talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in both restricted and expanded formats. President.uz confirmed he will also meet with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to discuss strengthening the countries' special strategic partnership.
The discussions will cover expanding bilateral trade, boosting investment flows, advancing infrastructure projects, digital transformation, and science and technology collaboration. Kursiv reported that both sides aim to increase cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The first Central Asia–South Korea Summit will take place on the final day of Mirziyoyev's visit. Infohub reported that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is also attending the summit on September 14-16, making it a landmark regional meeting.
Leaders are expected to adopt the Seoul Declaration at the summit's conclusion, signaling a formal commitment to regional cooperation. The summit represents the first multilateral engagement of this scale between Central Asian nations and South Korea.
During a meeting with Uzbek citizens in Seoul, Mirziyoyev discussed their aspirations and highlighted the importance of ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan. Zamin noted that he encouraged students and professionals living in South Korea to apply their knowledge and skills to Uzbekistan's development.
The president will also address the Uzbekistan–Korea Business Forum to strengthen economic ties. Additionally, Days of Uzbek Culture will be held in South Korea, promoting cultural exchange between the two nations during his visit.
