Dodgers Secure NL No. 2 Seed and First-Round Bye After 100-Win Season

The Dodgers closed the 2026 regular season with a 5-1, 10-inning win over the Giants, finishing 100-62 and earning the National League’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. They will host the winner of the Phillies-Braves Wild Card Series in an NL Division Series beginning Oct. 3, using the break for rest, practice and simulated games. The 100-win mark is the franchise’s 12th, and the team has reached that threshold six times in the past nine full seasons, though regular-season dominance does not guarantee a championship. Injuries limited how often the Dodgers could field their full lineup, but they enter the playoffs after a strong September and a six-game sweep of San Francisco.
The Dodgers tied the record for consecutive postseason appearances, matching the 1991–2005 Atlanta Braves’ streak.
The Dodgers’ full “A” lineup was available for only five games all season, amid injuries across the position-player group.
Tommy Edman and Will Smith missed extended stretches with ankle and neck injuries, respectively, while Shohei Ohtani (knee and biceps) and Andy Pages (hand) were among the players hurt in September.
None of the Dodgers’ previous 100-win regular seasons was followed by a World Series title, according to the Daily News; the L.A. Times also noted that the team won its most recent two championships after seasons of 98 and 93 wins.
