Iran offers a seven-day plan to restore Hormuz shipping linked to Yemen actions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran has offered a seven-day plan to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, including a proposed ceasefire and U.S. actions under an existing memorandum. Under the plan, Iran says the United States could meet the initial conditions within four or five days, allowing shipping to resume on the sixth day, followed by negotiations. Araghchi says Washington must decide whether to accept the proposal and has criticized its rejection; reports say President Donald Trump rejected the initiative. Iran has also said it will not give up uranium enrichment as part of negotiations.
Araghchi said the United States had not yet provided an official final position through mediators, and that Tehran would decide its next steps after receiving Washington’s response.
Araghchi said the memorandum of understanding was signed between Washington and Tehran that summer, but that the parties were not currently fulfilling its de-escalation commitments.
In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Araghchi accused the U.S. ambassador of responding to questions about the proposal’s rejection with “old, unsubstantiated accusations.”
