Israel strikes Iranian petrochemical complex, escalating tensions despite US warnings on negotiations.
Israel claimed it carried out an airstrike on Iran’s Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex in Khuzestan on June 8, with video footage showing smoke plumes and Iranian officials saying parts of the facility were damaged. Iran’s petrochemical authorities said they evacuated employees in Bandar-e Mahshahr, while Khuzestan’s deputy governor for security affairs, Valiollah Hayati, told Fars that “no casualties” had been reported so far.
Iran’s IRGC specified that it struck the Nevatim and Tel Nof air bases, saying this was in response to Israel’s missile strikes on radar sites in three Iranian locations, and that its units were fully ready for operations “on all fronts.”
