Bills Quarterback Josh Allen Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

The Buffalo Bills beat the Detroit Lions 41-31 in their first game at the new Highmark Stadium, with Josh Allen accounting for five touchdowns through the air and on the ground. Allen was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the 19th such honor of his career. Buffalo’s offense may face a receiver shortage against the Los Angeles Chargers: D.J. Moore is managing a shoulder injury, while Moore and Keon Coleman are both listed as questionable after limited or missed practices. The Bills are scheduled to host the Chargers on Sunday.
Buffalo running back James Cook III led the game with 135 rushing yards on 21 carries, while Detroit’s Jared Goff threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns and Amon-Ra St. Brown caught nine passes for 142 yards and two scores.
Allen became the first player to record at least five passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns across the first two games of a season.
Reflecting on the stadium debut, Allen said, “My job is the coolest in the world,” adding that he felt fortunate to be the quarterback of an NFL franchise in Buffalo.
The Chargers entered the matchup 0-2, having lost to the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders in their first two games.
