Greece defeats Germany for the first time ever in UEFA Nations League play.

Greece beat Germany 1-0 in Augsburg in their UEFA Nations League match, earning their first-ever victory over the Germans and moving to the top of their group with six points. Dimitrios Kourbelis scored the winner in the 74th minute after Greece absorbed pressure and counterattacked, while Germany created few clear chances. The defeat left Jürgen Klopp with one point from his first two matches as Germany coach, following an opening draw with the Netherlands. Germany were without injured Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz, and Greece came into the match after a comeback win over Serbia.
Christos Tzolis assisted Kourbelis’s winner, which clipped Germany captain Joshua Kimmich before going into the net.
Greece had climbed from League C to League A through back-to-back promotions before entering this group.
Before the match, Germany had won their previous five competitive home games, while Greece had gone 10 meetings without beating Germany.
Greece’s win over Serbia ended a five-match winless run across all competitions, comprising three draws and two defeats.
