XRPL Batch V1.1 Upgrade Nears Mainnet Activation

The amendment crossed the required 80% approval threshold on September 15, beginning the two-week activation countdown.
If support remains at or above the threshold, XRPLScan projects activation no earlier than September 29, 2026, at 2:06 p.m. UTC; after activation, the change will apply permanently to subsequent ledger versions.
Batch V1.1 is the second attempt to introduce batch-transaction functionality on the XRPL, replacing the earlier implementation with a corrected version.
XRPL validator governance operates through operator-managed Unique Node Lists (UNLs): each node operator selects trusted validators, and consensus emerges from the overlap among those lists rather than from a single organization’s authority.
The batch mechanism is designed to let linked transactions be structured as interdependent operations, so failure of one step prevents incomplete trades or contracts from being finalized.
The XRP Ledger's Batch V1.1 upgrade is set to go live on September 29, 2026, after crossing the 80% validator approval threshold needed for activation. The corrected feature, which allows up to eight transactions to execute together atomically, currently has support from roughly 30 of 35 validators — about 85.71% backing — according to Yahoo Finance.
If validator support stays above the required threshold, the Batch amendment will become permanent on the mainnet, enabling atomic swaps, custody transfers, and cross-border payments where multiple accounts must act in perfect sync. The two-week activation countdown began on September 15, 247 Wall St reported.
Batch V1.1 is the second attempt to bring batch-transaction functionality to the XRPL. The upgrade lets up to eight transactions involving multiple accounts execute together in a single ledger close. If any step fails, the entire group rolls back. This prevents incomplete trades or broken contracts from being finalized, 247 Wall St explained.
The feature unlocks use cases that require coordinated action across accounts — atomic swaps where two parties trade assets simultaneously, delivery-versus-payment settlements where payment and goods transfer happen together, and instant cross-border payments that settle without intermediaries.
The Batch amendment approval shows that Ripple, the company behind XRP, cannot force protocol upgrades onto the ledger. Instead, the XRPL uses a decentralized validator governance model where amendments require sustained supermajority support from independent node operators. Each validator operator selects trusted validators through a Unique Node List (UNL), and consensus emerges from the overlap among those lists rather than from a single organization's authority.
This structure means Ripple must convince the broader validator community that a change is necessary. Batch V1.1 earned support from about 86% of validators — well above the 80% threshold required to proceed. The two-week activation window allows any validator that disagrees to upgrade their software before the change goes permanent.

Ripple stated that asset managers are already prepared for the upgrade, signaling institutional readiness for batch features. The upgrade is included in xrpld 3.3.0, the latest XRPL node software, and represents one of the ledger's most significant changes in years, Yahoo Finance noted.
