The S27 Ultra’s enlarged rear camera island is expected to retain the existing sensor placement and could eliminate the wobble that occurs when the phone is placed on a flat surface.
Rumors specify that the replacement Sony ultrawide camera could be a 50-megapixel IMX855 sensor, potentially improving detail, color and low-light performance; separate reports disagree on whether the new periscope would use a Sony sensor or be reused from an earlier model.
Samsung’s future foldables may also receive the M16 upgrade: the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Z Fold 9 and Z Fold 9 Ultra are reportedly expected to use it when they launch in the second half of 2027, replacing the M13 panels used by the current generation.
